Simulation of the Reed-Frost model for epidemics: effect of quarantine measures

Usage of this interactive tutorial assumes familiarity with the model of epidemics developed by L. Reed and W.H. Frost. If you did not yet do so, please visit first tutorial no. 1.

This interactive simulation explores the effect of containment (quarantine) mesasures. The epidemics occurs in a small village (N = 1000 individuals) starting from a single case of the disease; the number of contagious encounters is set to 5 at the beginning of the epidemics. You can decide at which time to set in the quarantine whose effect will be to reduce the number of encounters to 2 (i.e. the likelyhood of transmission will be reduced by 2.5-fold).
Please select the serial generation time at which quarantine will be applied:
10 ; 7 ; 5 ; 3
