Simulation of the Reed-Frost model for epidemics: clinically silent cases

Usage of this interactive tutorial assumes familiarity with the model of epidemics developed by L. Reed and W.H. Frost. If you did not yet do so, please visit first tutorial no. 1.

This interactive simulation explores the effect of clinically inapparent cases, which do not transmit the disease. These cases have mild or absent symptoms, and are not diagnosed. The epidemics occurs in a small village (N = 1000 individuals) starting from a single case of the disease; the number of contagious encounters is set to 5 at the beginning of the epidemics.
Please select the fraction of inapparent cases over total cases:
0% ; 30% ; 60% ; 90%
